Congratulations! You are one of the (over) 150,000 in Washington State that get this letter annually. In short (very short) based on econometric data, research, and history, the ESD recognized that certain unemployed people (former high earning professionals mostly) will likely find it difficult to find a job that meets their financial goals in the same industry they came from (sound familiar?). These individuals get a SEAP letter acknowledging their potential and capacity to turn their knowledge, experience, and ability into their own job - with self-employment training. Our SEAP certified training is specifically designed to turn your capacity into a money-generating opportunity.

what are the main benefits of SEAP?
SEAP is a unique program that allows an individual receiving unemployment benefits to collect those benefits without having to perform any sort of job search. You know how while on unemployment you have to keep a job search log and track contacts made, interviews, and related job search activity? Job searching and tracking is a full-time job in an of itself!
The ESD knows this! If you are in an approved training program like ours, you can participate in training, collect UI benefits, and NOT search for jobs.
SEAP give you the flexibility and control that you need to learn the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, plan your business, and even start earning income on your own...while collecting UI benefits.

I GOT A SEAP LETTER. NOW WHAT?
NOW THAT YOU HAVE YOUR SEAP APPROVAL...
Exciting! You received a SEAP letter. That means you are "eligible" for SEAP certified training - not that you are "in" per se. Follow the same process as those who have not received the letter.
Step 1: Enroll
Step 2: Choose your Class
Step 3: Apply for SEAP Approval
Once you complete the SEAP Application form, email the executed form to us. We complete the form and mail it to the ESD on your behalf.

Now you wait. Not all applications are approved by ESD. Hang in there and continue to complete your job search logs until you are approved.
I RECEIVED MY SEAP APPROVAL FOR YOUR CLASS AT THE SAME TIME A SEAP PROGRESS REPORT! WHAT NOW?
This is SUPER common. You may receive a SEAP acceptance letter from the ESD on the same day that you are also mailed a Progress Report. (Progress Reports may come as frequently as every 6 weeks. It is a form that you complete acknowledging your your training progress.) It can be scary to get a letter from the ESD asking for progress when you haven't started yet! Especially when it affects your UI benefits. So get going!

I didn't get a letter. CAN I apply for SEAP?
I DIDN'T GET A SEAP LETTER FROM THE ESD? CAN I STILL ENROLL?
Yes. SEAP is a very unique program that the US government created to provide an avenue for former professionals receiving unemployment benefits learn to create self-sustaining businesses rather than look for a job.
If you are currently receiving or are in the process of applying for UI benefits:
Complete the same steps as those who receive the SEAP eligibility letter. Anyone may self-select into the program - you are not guaranteed acceptance through.

CAN I TAKE STARTUP TRAINING CLASSES WITHOUT SEAP?
You don't have to be enrolled or even eligible for SEAP to participate in our training. That we are a SEAP Eligible Training Provider should give you confidence that our program includes all the core components you need to successfully plan, design and launch a business. Many of our students (hundreds!) are non participating in SEAP through us.
